Vegas Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy on what changed in the third period of the team’s win over San Jose
The Vegas Golden Knights played perhaps their best third period this season in their win against San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.
The Golden Knights were down 2-1 in the third period, and gave up two unanswered goals during the second. From there, they would score three unanswered goals to secure the 4-2 victory on the road. Bruce Cassidy,
Vegas’ coach, said that the comeback was about what makes good teams different from the rest.
” We all talked about it,” Cassidy said to the media on Thursday. “And the messaging was about expectations and what good teams do in comparison to average or bad teams. They don’t beat themselves up. That was the problem we had in the second period. The guys talked about “OK, what does it entail, not beating your self?” They went out and did a great job, managed the pucks. Shift length was excellent. Second attempt. Structure in the D-zone. All of these things were achieved in the third period.
” You’re going to get rid of some video during the year. You can also keep video for a few days and keep it on the shelf. This was evident in the Toronto game, as well as the San Jose third period. These are the ones you can look back on and say, “This is how we look when we’re a great hockey club.” That’s exactly what happened in the third. It was so satisfying for the guys to get it done.

“Doesn’t matter the opposition to me, doesn’t matter that it was back-to-back, all that stuff’s irrelevant. Simply going out and acknowledging that you have to clean up your game, and then actually doing it in each of the three groups. “
The Golden Knights face another divisional opponent, the Anaheim Ducks, at T-Mobile Arena on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. PDT.
