UFC Fight Night Best Bets, Odds: Calvin Kattar vs. Josh Emmett thumbnail

Two of the most dangerous featherweight strikers will take to the Octagon in Austin Texas on Saturday night when Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett face off in the main event. Both fighters have a lot to work with as Kattar is 3-1 in four of his last four fights, while Emmett has a four-fight win streak. Kattar is coming off a very impressive five-round unanimous decision win over Giga Chikadze, where the Boston Finisher was a 190 underdog heading in. Kattar’s win over Chikadze placed Kattar back in contention for a title shot. Kattar lost against Max Holloway and was completely outclassed.

SI Video’s Doug Vazquez:
Kattar’s opponent in Emmett has proven himself worthy of a main event after ripping off four wins in a row with two KOs and two decisions. Emmett, like Kattar, prefers to keep fights upright, box, and has a strong grappling history so I wouldn’t surprise if he attempts some takedowns to see if there is any way to win via submission or ground-and-pound. I expect Kattar will be ready for this and not allow Emmett the opportunity to shoot by cutting off Emmett’s Octagon and making him stand to trade blows. Kattar proved a lot by beating Chikadze and correcting some of his mistakes in the loss to Holloway. I expect Kattar will finish Emmett with a series of jabs, leg kicks, and body shots. He could also win a late decision.

SI MMA writer Justin Barrasso:
Calvin Kattar’s redemption tour won’t be deterred by Josh Emmett. Kattar is a top five featherweight for a reason. His speed and physicality are unmatched by Emmett. This will be a win for Boston, even though the Celtics lost the NBA Finals.
BET: Kattar via KO 200

SI Video’s Julian Pinto:
In the main event I have Calvin Kattar getting a decision over Josh Emmett. Both fighters are punch-heavy and I believe Calvin Kattar will be able outstrike Emmett inside the pocket, similar as he did with Giga Chukadze. Emmett has a background in wrestling, but he seems to live by his hands. Kattar is the better boxer and it will be obvious.
BET: Kattar via DEC 140
