Russell Wilson Makes Pitch to Denver Broncos’ Potential Head-Coaching Candidates

Understandably, the NFL head-coaching rumor mill has gone into overdrive since the Denver Broncos pulled the plug on the chaotic tenure of Nathaniel Hackett.

Big hitters such as Sean Payton or Jim Harbaugh quickly rose to the top of Broncos Country’s wish list. They were linked directly to Denver by NFL insiders . Some fans may be disappointed if Payton is not going to be coaching in the Mile High City next year.

Reselling Payton’s coaching rights can be done by simply meeting the New Orleans Saints ‘ asking prices. A lucrative offer and extensive courtship are required to sell a reclamation mission on Wilson and a franchise that is highly listed.

The national media has made it clear that the Broncos are less appealing than the Arizona Cardinals ,, and that will irritate fans. Wilson doesn’t believe that the Broncos’ job has been made less attractive by the many coveted coaches.

” Wilson stated Wednesday that he believes this is a unique job. Wilson said on Wednesday that it was a special place, with special traditions and special players. I mean, world-class players. “

A workable Plan B must be put in place by Broncos GM George Paton, who said on Tuesday that the team’s search would be extensive.

” We’ll be looking at–we hope that we can interview [Broncos defensive coach] Ejiro evero for the job,” Paton stated at Tuesday’s press conference. “I think I mentioned that experience is beneficial, especially when it comes to where we are as a football club. We’re not going anywhere. There are many other qualified candidates. We are excited to meet with them all and look forward to the process. “

Jerry Rosburg’s tenure as interim head coach is probably fated to be short-term, even if he was to pull off an unlikely brace of divisional wins to close out the 2022 season. However, that doesn’t mean Paton and Greg Penner, the Broncos CEO/part-owner, will dismiss Evero.

Let’s suppose that the Broncos’ top executives are interested in the pulse of the locker-room or looking for a cheaper head-coaching option. The Broncos might consider what Justin Simmons, a Pro Bowl safety, said about his coordinator in that instance.

“He is one of the most effective leaders I have ever seen,” Simmons stated this week. “I think it speaks volumes to the testament–obviously, you can’t take away last week’s game, but minus that game–of the way that the defense has answered the bell. There is a lot of talent on defense, but it speaks volumes about leadership and how your guys react to adversity. I felt that all year, the guys responded positively to any adversity. Coach E is the reason I believe this. He’s one the most brightest minds I know and one of my favorite leaders. He would be at the top. “

The truth is that Evero may have let the front office know that he views his future elsewhere by turning down the first offer at the interim head coach. Denver’s unrequited overtures to Evero may have taken him out of the running for the permanent job, but insiders believe the 41-year-old is still firmly in the running.

Writing checks is not a major concern for the super-rich Walmart/Penner owners. It might not take much to lure a big name to Denver. Throwing a boatload at Harbaugh or Payton would make Evero unattractive and increase the possibility of another change at the defensive coordinator position next season.
