Nebraska Baseball Wins Nonconference Finale Over Oral Roberts
Nebraska concluded its non-Big Ten schedule Tuesday night by winning 9-5 against Oral Roberts at Haymarket Park, Lincoln.
Early, it looked like Nebraska might be in for a long evening. In the top of the first, the Golden Eagles won 3-0.
NU was the one to thank for the three runs in the home inning. After Cam Chick scored on an error, Leighton Banjoff tied the game with a two-run double.
The third inning saw more offense, with Garrett Anglim’s leadoff single. Max Anderson hit an opposite-field double to score two and give the Huskers a 5-3 lead. Anderson was brought in by Banjoff with his second hit in as few at-bats.
Banjoff was a great hitter and provided the defensive highlight of this game by chasing down a pop fly that would’ve landed in front the third-base berm. Banjoff spotted the ball and timed his slide into a wall. He gloved the ball just as it was about to contact the padding.

Meanwhile, Dawson McCarville pitched into the sixth inning after surviving the three-run first, saving the Husker bullpen for a must-win weekend series. In his four middle innings, he did not allow any runs.
Garrett Anglim hit a homer over the left field wall in fourth. Colby Gomes added a two out RBI single in the fourth inning to make it 8-3 Big Red.
With only three regular season games remaining, it comes down to this: Michigan State will visit Lincoln for the final series. The fate of Nebraska’s postseason will be decided and the Huskers will need to win the eighth seed in the Big Ten Tournament.
