LIVE Updates: South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt

South Carolina will face a crucial game against Vanderbilt. The Gamecocks need to harness their momentum as they enter three tough final games that will test their character.
The Gamecocks have lost their star running back MarShawn Lloyd during warmups. To ease the burden, they will turn to Jaheim Bell, tight end, as well as other contributors.
Vanderbilt boasts an aggressive team that will make it difficult. They are led by AJ Swann, a freshman quarterback. South Carolina must keep them off of the field in order to win.

South Carolina Football Injury Report
- Corey Rucker, WR (Foot) OUT – Rucker will miss the rest of the season after undergoing foot surgery.
- MarShawn Lloyd, RB (Quad) OUT – Lloyd was questionable coming into play but did not travel with the Gamecocks.
- Terrell Dawkins, EDGE (Knee) OUT – Dawkins is trending in the right direction but will not play.
- David Spaulding, CB (Unknown) OUT – Beamer did not list Spaulding on the injury report, but he was not on the dress list and will be out.

First Quarter
(0-0), 15: 00 – South Carolina wins the toss and defers to the second half. AJ Swann and Vanderbilt quarterback will be on the field first.
(0-0), 13: 38 – Corner Darius Rush intercepts a pass along the sideline and South Carolina takes over on the thirty-yard-line.
(7-0), 11: 23 – Quarterback Spencer Rattler finds wide receiver Xavier Leggette in the back of the end zone for a 29-yard touchdown.
(7-7), 9: 30 – Quarterback AJ Swann finds wide receiver Quincy Skinner Jr. down the sideline for a long touchdown.
(14-7), 8: 36 – Offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield dips into his bag of tricks and comes up with a 68-yard touchdown for wide receiver Antwane Wells Jr., courtesy of hybrid quarterback Dakereon Joyner.
(14-7), 6: 12 – Vanderbilt punts away after getting to midfield. The Gamecocks will begin the drive at their 7-yard line.
(14-7), 4: 30 – South Carolina can’t get anything going after starting backed up. They punt away, and the Commodores take control at midfield.
(14-7), 3: 05 – Vanderbilt can’t make anything with their field position as they miss a field goal. Gamecocks start at their own 25-yard line.
(14-7), 1: 45 – Rattler tries to find Leggette on a flea-flicker, but the pass falls incomplete, and Vanderbilt gets the ball after a touchback.
(14-7), 1: 33 – Corner DQ Smith forces a fumble on a blitz and the Gamecocks start in the red zone.
(17-7), 0: 21 – Kicker Mitch Jeter is good from 31 yards and gives South Carolina a two-score game.
(17-7), 0: 00 – The first quarter ends as both offenses have slowed down. Vanderbilt opens the first quarter with the ball on a second and long.
Second Quarter
(17-14), 11: 08 – Swann finds Skinner once again, this time in the red zone. Skinner scores his second touchdown of the night by breaking several tackles.
(24-14), 9: 13 – Running back Christian Beal-Smith scores a long touchdown on fourth and short.
(24-14), 3: 34 – DQ Smith with another big play, forcing an incompletion on fourth down to set the Gamecocks up with an end-of-half situation.
(31-14), 1: 22 – Rattler bails out of the pocket and finds wide receiver Josh Vann in the back of the end zone for a long touchdown.
(31-14), 0: 00 – Despite a shuffle at the end of the first half, both teams eventually find the locker room. Swann was injured on one of the final plays in the scrimmage. This is something to keep in mind for future.
Third Quarter
(31-14), 12: 41 – South Carolina stalls on their first possession and punts away to Vanderbilt.
(31-21), 6: 50 – Running back Patrick Smith breaks the Commodores’ drought and scores a short-yardage touchdown.
(38-21), 0: 51 – Rattler finds Wells Jr. on a crossing route in the end zone for Rattler’s third touchdown pass on the day.
Fourth Quarter
(38-21), 14: 38 – Vanderbilt punts away to South Carolina, and the Gamecocks take over inside their own 10-yard line.
(38-27), 6: 06 – Vanderbilt running back Ray Davis beats a South Carolina defender to the pylon for a touchdown. Two-point attempt fails.
(38-27), 4: 04 – Defensive lineman Zacch Pickens recovers a fumble near midfield and the Gamecocks begin to chip away at the clock.
(38-27), 1: 04 – Defensive back O’Donnell Fortune intercepts a pass to clinch the win and send South Carolina on to victory.
(38-27), 0: 00 – South Carolina leaves Nashville with a win, becoming bowl eligible.
