Winding across the five-mile causeway to our secluded little paradise island, it is clear to see how Chincoteague Island received the moniker, “Beautiful Land Across the Water.” The vibrant colors of every season and unique sounds of over 300 species of birds and waterfowl in the wetlands welcome the weary traveler into our peaceful village where everything moves at a quieter pace. Southern hospitality awaits you in a land far from the ordinary. The marshland becomes the Atlantic Ocean, and you are in the middle of nature’s playground.

World is well-known for its ninety-seven year history of the wild pony roundup and swim. We are also known for our beautiful beaches, miles of nature trails, waterways to explore by kayak, chartered cruise, stunning sunsets, fishing and crabbing, as well as rocket launches. Nearby Wallops Island is NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility. Here, sounding rockets and electron rockets perform deep space missions. Numerous missions are scheduled throughout each year, so Chincoteague Island has many launch viewing spots.
