Chris Rock Won’t Talk Will Smith Oscars Slap Until He ‘Gets Paid’

Chris Rock has shed a smidge of light on how he feels about Will Smith slapping him at the Oscars — but says he won’t reveal more until he receives one thing … cold, hard cash.

The comedian told a live audience Friday that he would not be talking about the Oscars until he was compensated, presumably meaning somebody ponying up for his exclusive account … this according to a report from the Palm Springs Desert Sun, which detailed his set in Indio, CA and the material referenced as Chris continues his national comedy tour.

Here is what Chris reportedly said: “I’m OK. I have a whole program, and I won’t talk about it until I get paid. It’s good. I got my hearing back. “

The strange thing is that Chris may be implying he’s still waiting for a network to pay him for a sit down. But you have to imagine that he and his team are already being approached by every broadcast company in this game at this point. Perhaps they haven’t offered enough?

There is another way to interpret his comments. Perhaps he’s referring to Will’s civil lawsuit, where he could get paid that way.

Or he could be just joking… it’s not clear how serious this comment was, but Chris seems to be in good spirits, and continuing to do well, considering the context. The Desert Sun has more details about Chris’ set, and it’s fascinating.

They say he took a lot of shots at celebs and politicians, including Hillary Clinton, the Kardashians, Meghan Markle and others. He also mocked corporations and their diversity initiatives, while also referring to his family life, being single, and cancel culture…as it relates with offending people these day. According to the DS, he received a standing ovation at the end.

It does seem Chris is opening up more and more as his tour rolls on — remember, in his initial shows out in the East Coast … all he said was he’s still processing the smack.

Now it seems he’s finding humor in the whole situation — or just masked how he feels with his comedy chops. Chris will speak on the matter officially only time will tell.

In the meantime … Hollywood is still very divided on Will’s punishment — aka, the 10-year ban, which only applies to his attendance and has nothing to do with eligibility for awards.
